Affiliate Marketers Beware
Do you make these affiliate marketing mistakes?
If so, check this out…
Man, did I get a rude awakening. The gym rats (that’s what guys who hang out a gym are called) were all huge. Muscle bound freaks stared at my “pencil-neck” physique. I was intimidated.
Despite having worked out for a year, I did not make much progress. It occurred to me something was wrong. Instead of continuing on my path of ignorance I bought a book on bodybuilding. Reading that book was an eye-opener.
For one thing, I found out I was grossly over-trained. Most natural bodybuilders can’t use the same routines the “juice heads” use. I didn’t know that when I started out. As a result, I wasted a lot of time on things that did not work.
Well, I learned from that experience. A few years later, I decided to learn how to make money online. As an affiliate marketer. So I bothered to find out which costly mistakes to steer clear of at all costs.
First, too much emphasis is placed on niching. The problem with that is you can’t sustain a profitable marketing effort. The smaller the niche you choose the worse off you are. You need a big niche that is both deep and wide. So you never run out of customers.
In no particular order here is a list of mistakes affiliates make. One is going after tiny little markets. The problem with that is obvious. Pretty soon you run out of people to sell. A much better idea is to target big markets. Then find the niches within them. This way you can always sell to a hot segment of that big market.
Mistake #2: Not building a responsive list. By all accounts, super affiliates build big lists. Because affiliate marketing is a numbers game. The bigger your list the better. Size counts for only so much, though. The other ingredient is having a responsive list. Focus on getting people to join your list. Then keep in touch with them by sending out valuable info.
Focusing on low-priced affiliate products is another profit-draining mistake. The same time and effort is required to sell regardless of price range. So it makes sense to focus on higher priced products.
Mistake #4: Not selling high-priced products. The fact is it takes just as much time and effort to sell a high priced product as a low priced one. In terms of return on investment, it makes sense to sell more high priced stuff. You’ll make more money.
Neglecting offline marketing methods is another way to cut your profits. People still respond best to old fashioned direct mail. Combine online and offline marketing to get the biggest profits possible.
By avoiding the mistakes above you’ll make more money as an affiliate marketer.
