Many Trade Show Fails For These 6 Reasons
Trade shows are a great place to show case new and innovative products. It is also a place to meet and mingle with colleagues that are in your industry. This provides a good place for networking as well as product sales However, numerous trade show exhibitors fail to get good results from trade shows. There are many reasons for this failure at trade shows.
I would say the number one reason for failure is that exhibitors do not do preshow marketing. Preshow marketing has to be done otherwise be prepared to just look to the show aisles for your client or potential client. When someone attends a trade show as an attendee, he already knows who or what he is looking for. Attendees just don’t enter the show not knowing or having any idea of what they are looking for. Preshow marketing helps one to learn about your product before they hit the show floor.
A poor design and built trade show booth can also contribute to a failed trade show event. Your booth should reflect your company image. It should promote your product and services. Do not just choose a generic booth; this says nothing to attendees about your company and or services.
Lack of promotional materials: One should show up to the convention with some sort of giveaway about their company and or their product. It should be professionally done. You can have DVD, brochure, or pamphlet about your product and services. Make sure it has all of your contact information long with your website
Untrained booth staff can also be damaging to your booth success. They should be well versed as to your product and services. Educate your staff on your new product and or services. Make sure they know how to exchange information with potential clients.
Reason five you provided no giveaway item at the show: Believe it or not people like free things. Provide some sort of product giveaway that relates to your business. This helps the attendee remember your booth and most of all your company.
Reason six lack of lead follow up: At the close of the show no one thing bothers me more that to have an exhibitor not follow up any leads that were obtained at the show. Why did you exhibit at the show? Hint to get leads which can eventually lead to sales.
I certainly can understand if attendance was down at the show, but yet if done correct your company should be able to leave that show or event with some sort of leads. Your product should have been seen. If Pepsi Cola enters the auto show and never gave away anything, had no promotional items, I am certain they would not be a splash at that event. Any trade show you enter you should be able to leave an impression about your company.
